Welcome to Mountain View High's Art Page

Our Visual Arts Department believes that art is a vital piece of a full & vibrant life.  We are excited to teach, nurture, & support each of our students in both their artistic endeavors and their life goals.

We encourage you to visit this page often & be on the lookout for important upcoming events, such as: Art Scholarships, Photo Competitions, Community Art Events, etc.

  • 1st Friday Art Walk - Old Town Fort Collins - Get out and see some great art.  Also, stop by Goldworks and see some jewelry making, sometimes they even let YOU do the making!
  • 2nd Friday Art Walk - Old Town Loveland - Get out and see MORE ART! Artworks is a grand studio with lots of amazing artists, and Creator-space is another fun place to go visit.
  • Loveland Photographic Society - 6th Annual NoCO Youth Showcase - an art competition hosted by our local Loveland Photographic Society - several MVHS students have entered and are hoping to receive monetary/scholarship awards for their artwork.
  • District Art Show - Official Opening: March 11th 4p-6p - This is being held at the Thompson R2-J Administration Building.  Please join us for the official opening, or stop in during regular admin bldg hours to enjoy some of the best artwork in our district.  The Art Show will be up until April 15th
  • MVHS Spring Art Show - The 2016 Spring Art Show is just around the corner... April 22nd from 4p-8p in the MVHS Lobby.  Please bring family and friends for an enchanting evening of art and culture.  Every art student here at MVHS will have, at least, 1 piece of artwork from their respective classes.  Artwork will range from acrylic paintings & pencil drawings to glazed ceramics & jewelry pieces.

    • Anne is a veteran teacher here at MVHS.  She spent many years as our LISA Coordinator, but currently teaches our AP Studio Art Classes, as well as our Drawing & Painting classes.
  • Dave Theissen  -  dave.theissen@thompsonschools.org  -  970-679-9751
    • Dave is in his third year with MVHS Arts.  A man of many talents; Dave previously served as our LISA Coordinator and now teaches our Sculpture classes, in addition to our Intro Drawing classes.
  • Ian Yurk  -  ian.yurk@thompsonschools.org  -  970-679-9758
    • Ian has been teaching at MVHS since 2010.  He began teaching a lil bit of everything, but now strictly teaches Photography and Metalsmithing.
  • Kim Knowles  -  kimberly.knowles@thompsonschools.org  -  970-679-9755
    • Kim, who loves traveling and the outdoors, was with MVHS Arts 2010-2011.  Kim is now back for her second year as our Graphic Arts, Video Production & back-up Photography teacher.
